Last week's announcement (NYT March 21; Science News March 23) that = hemoglobin transports nitric oxide (NO) as a vasodilator makes it look = as if nitrogen narcosis is due to conversion of NO to nitrous oxide = (N2O) [at the hemoglobin receptor?] at high ppn. I don't know the = chemistry, is this what may be going on? It would be nice to know more = than "something happens" which is about as far as the NAUI Advanced text = got as I remember.=20 Thanks Dave Smith U Tx School of Public Health
