Subject: Re: "BELLY UP"
Dan,

I'll start with B first. After you answered my question, I was satisfied
with your answer and accepted it completely. At BTS at the Meadowlands
this weekend, I repeated your answer to someone who knows a lot about the
Odessey, Kellam and the major who Kellam is talking to. That is to say
they know what they have been told. I was told that your answer to me was
incorrect in the following ways: Odyssey is not about to be manufactured
by one of the majors. Only that the two O's were talking and no deal had
been struck. And "most certainly" (their words), press releases are not
about to be sent out soon. Another person who was familiar with the
situation told me that there has been built only one functioning unit
although there are five or six empty shells that resemble the unit but
have no internal components. I have seen this type of unit at DEMA. I was
told at DEMA- when I asked about the internal components and their
absence- that the company didn't install them for fear that something
would be stolen at the show. They also told me that the unit was to be
built by Brownie's Third Lung but that the deal fell through, and the
attempted deal between the two O's was another of a few attempts to get
more than one unit built. The persons telling me this stuff did so
independently and were fanatical Odyssey people. You do the math.

BioMarine doesn't pay me to say anything. I own and use their product and
I am very pleased with it. They know what they are doing because they have
a good solid history of building rebreathers- rebreathers that have been
dived by military forces around the world for years. The hundreds of
thousands of hours of using and refining the units have made a great
product. There are seven CCR155 and ten CCR1000's in use today for
non-military purposes that I know of personally. That's not to say there
aren't nor can't be any other good products out there. Cis-Lunar is
certainly a great unit and several are actively in use today, as well.
Draeger has units out there and so does Fieno. There are Prism units that
work and even the now defunct major "O" had two fuctional units and the
wherewithal to produce more. Odyssey has one unit and six shells and
cannot- if you believe the Odyssey fanatics- produce another unit unless
someone else bankrolls it. I did the math and Odyssey doesn't equate
to a company whose "economic health is quite good".

Your only hope for redemption and salvation lies in a solid marriage
between the "O"'s and soon. Otherwise, you be a dork.

the fuck is telling you shit like this,

I consider myself for all rebreather companies. I want a solid, reliable
rebreather industry to develop because I want the spare parts and
technology. Odyssey ought to cut a licensing deal with a major and retire
to the beach. Let them make it into whatever they wanted- read that as
"produce the unit". The rebreather industry needs product not the science
fiction it has been getting from some companies and some people for the past
few years.
