I talked to the head push at BMD here in Vancouver a few weeks ago. They
expect to have the unit back on the market sometime this year. From
what I've heard (mostly second hand) the only problem with the unit was
a few leaky fittings.

I don't think this unit will be of much use to me. We are thinking
of possibly building a fixed volume fraction unit at some point just for
experimentation. However I want a rebreather for photographing pelagic
fish which are very shy of bubbles. The BMD will always exhaust 1/4 of each
breath to the environment. The toroidal counter lung might be interesting
though.
