If this is the case, it does not sound like a safe ride for me... >Isn't that possible just to put a manual switch on a dive computer for that >purpose? This is *exactly* what it means - the same goes for any other openwater dive too should you be required to share air... Now, take this argument to it's logical conclusion. Suppose you are BOTH diving the same computer to get similar results on the dive (although I cannot fathom TWO people wasting this much money)... No problem you say, you just use your buddy's computer to get your ass and the res of you back on the boat/out of the cave/ just to get back home... Well, thanks to the innovative technology in these expensive weight belts, your buddy's BREATHING RATE has now effectively doubled. What do you think the computer is going to do??? Yep, it's going to assume your buddy is WORKING EXTREMELY HARD and rack up unwarranted deco on that dive... What good is using the breathing rate in this scenario - it's just plain dangerous because you have NO IDEA how much deco you really have, only that it's LESS than calculated. Why do you think that no serious divers uses one of these pieces of camel dung??? And, NO CAVER diver will use one except possibly to keep the profile to aid in their logbooks/cartography/etc. And for that you certainly do NOT need an air integrated weight belt (I mean computer). -Carl-
