There's been a bunch of stuff about our NEMESIS and COMMANDER being able
to determine whether the diver is in fresh or salt water. Thought you
might want to hear our rationale for this feature.

1. It seemed inconsistent to have a 1% of full scale specification on
depth when the type of water can make a 3% difference.

2. Some dive computers assume fresh water, some assume salt water, and
some assume salt below some altitude and fresh above that. We all
   know what "assume" means.

3. Some divers compare dive computers' accuracy and unless the diver
knows which is which, one of them could be considered wrong, even
   though it isn't.

4. It was free.

For those of you who flamed us for this, I make these special offers:

Offer A: We can force your dive computer to be in salt water all the
time or fresh water all the time, your choice. Just let us
know which way you want it when you place your order.

Offer B: If you think it's good for depth to be inaccurate by more than
1%, we can make it inaccurate to any number you wish. Just
specify how far off you want it, and in which direction, when
          you place your order.

Regards, Mike C.
