After futilely searching our databases for "rchambers" (or anything
similar) we finally connected with Robert Chambers in Barbados via Email
and later by phone. He wasn't in any of our computer systems because we
did not have his warranty card, and did not know the serial number of his
unit to back-track it. Robert was cooperative and apparently is quite
an accomplished diver.

As background information, the NEMESIS II Nitrox will perform a blend
switch (patent pending) if the Breathing Parameter (SAC) goes to zero.
Since the computer does not actually "know" when a switch occurs, it
monitors the primary cylinder and assumes the diver has switched to blend
two when it is detected that breathing has stopped on that cylinder. The
unit will switch back to the primary cylinder if breathing is detected
again and if the "switchback function" was enabled by the user. The user
can also select the responsiveness of the switch. One of eight different
response speeds from very slow to highly responsive can be selected.

We reviewed Robert's ANALYST files he kindly sent to us and identified
the reported blend switch. As recorded by the dive computer, the dive at
issue was number 46 on February 13, 1996 at 11:27 PM in 81F seawater.
The responsiveness of the Breathing Parameter on that dive was set to a
relatively slow factor of 6 on a scale of 0 to 7 where 7 is the slowest.
Maximum depth of the dive was 184 feet with an average depth of 89 feet
for a total dive time of 28:39. The diver started ascending at 9:33 into
the dive, and was ascending at varying rates less than 50 feet per minute
at the time that breathing stopped from the primary cylinder at 16:38
into the dive at 51 feet of depth. The dive computer switched to the
second blend at 17:10 into the dive at 34 feet of depth as the diver was
continuing to ascend.

The bottom line is that the dive computer's switch to the second blend
was within 32 seconds as the unit ascended another 17 feet. The dive
computer functioned as expected and the dive was not compromised. The
blend switch could have occurred sooner if the setting for the Breathing
Parameter responsiveness had been smaller (faster response).

Robert says (unsolicited) "Loves our computer...", it "...has changed my
diving...for the better.", and "No one else's computer is worthy of
consideration."
