At any time I during a dive I should have enough line on a reel to make an ascent. If the line reel I am using is for penetration, navigation or whatever, and it is in use when if I should suddenly need to make an ascent, then there is the risk that their will not be enough line on the reel to get the bag to the surface. If penetrating a wreck for example, and you need to in an emergency get out quickly, not leaving you time to take up your line, you may find yourself short on line. Kind of like cave diving. Primary reel, safety reel, jump reel-each for a specific task. Hope this helps. Safe diving, Raimo.
