You don't need to apologize to me, and hopefully not to a lot of other readers here; the TDI announcement was interesting and informative, as have Mr. Crea's other recent postings. I note that the author of the original flame has contributed nothing else to the Techdiver list within the last 161 messages. Some time ago I watched the philistines in comp.dcom.modems chase somebody away because he was posting from telebit.com and therefore had a commercial interest in the modem business, never mind that he had posted some useful factual information to the group in response to somebody's question. If you allow useful information to get posted to Usenet, it might (horror of horrors) stop people from posting "I don't know for sure, but..." and "I think that..." messages. I don't read that group anymore. A number of my diving friends are in the commercial side of diving, and would probably love to sell me new gear. I happen to respect these people's opinions about gear and about diving more than I do most people's opinions, because they know what they're talking about. On the other hand, they don't shove new gear down my throat. When/if I need and can afford something, I'll know where to get it. Let's maybe try to keep the list like that, and not be too quick to shoot anyone to maintain the NSFNET purity standards. -- Anthony DeBoer A: "The Net goes right around the world." adb@he*.re*.or* B: "Wouldn't want to haul them buggers in on a uunet!geac!herboid!adb cold Sunday in February!" -- CBC Air Farce explaining Internet to fishermen
