You don't say what you want it for (ie. for wet or dry application), but
in either case, you want the contacts sealed.  Electrical contacts will
spark as they open and close, and having that happen in an oxygen-rich
6 ATA environment might be real bad for fire safety.  It seems the small
volume you want to squeeze this into is the real kicker; IMHO you're on
the right track with the reed switch activation, so long as the whole
circuit is sealed.
