I've actually been reading the techdiver list for a couple of months already, anonymously I suppose, since I never got around to sending an official "hello" message. Let's see if I can slip this one in with the latest bunch of new subscribers :-). Many of you already know me from rec.scuba anyway. I'm not quite as deeply into tech as perhaps a lot of other Techdiver subscribers, but I have crossed the official boundary and left the realm of "sport diving". I've been diving since 1987, NAUI AI for three years, and DM for two. My tech experience hasn't been too extensive; I suppose I can be honest here (over in rec.scuba, we seem to have established a convention of saying "I've been to *censored* feet") and say that I've been to 154 feet in the water several times, usually diving the Forest City near Tobermory, Ontario. I've been on a few chamber runs, too, back when CUTC was still in business and doing training runs, so my deepest was actually a "dry" run to 194 feet. I think I kept my head well enough during that that equalling it in the water someday is not entirely out of the question. I've gone diving with decompression deliberately aforethought numerous times, done wreck penetration to various degrees, and always dive with at least two tanks (either main and pony, or independent doubles). Future plans: continue remodelling gear into "cave" mode (I've already taped up mask and fin straps, hooked up that dangly console to my BC, and switched to a 7' octopus hose), and eventually take the cave course. -- Anthony DeBoer < adb@he*.uu* | uunet!geac!herboid!adb | adb@ge*.co* > NAUI # Z8800, D5482
