Dear Mr. Mount: I was dismayed to find your public statement dated 1/29/96 entitled "ANDI History". I am, unfortunately, forced to respond in kind. We will never know whether the story *you* were told was, in fact, what they were told. With their command of English to contend with, and the, at least, third hand way in which you were informed, this whole issue seems somewhat nebulous. Even assuming it's 100% accurate, how does a simple mistake, misunderstanding, or misinterpretation by two persons in the entire world rate the publicity and content of your response? And where is the connection to Techdiver? Did you try to contact me or anyone else at ANDI? You might have asked us to look into the matter and determine what they said, to whom, in what context, where they got their information from, etc. You might have suggested they were confused and maybe should be talked to. There is no record to set straight'. One can drive a truck between "...some ANDI instructors were in town from Sweden...", and ...a lot of assumptions have been made...'. Just because two guys may have gotten the wrong impression, how does it follow that *they* were informed incorrectly or there is a concerted effort to misinform? If you have a problem or question regarding ANDI, its programs, practices, standards, policy statements, etc., please write, or email me directly, or call me during business hours (M-F 10am-6pm EST). I'd be more than pleased to discuss any concerns you may have. -------------------------------------------------- Stuart Masch, Chief Operating Officer American Nitrox Divers International
