stated: <<FYI: In the UK we often use Faber cylinders. They are 15 litres water capacity (WC) and WP of 232 bar, 3365psi (=123 cuft). They are stamped as weighing 16.5kg (36lbs). Price about 150 UKP each. As far as I know, neck threads are 3/4BSP or M25. I don't know if they do 3/4 NPSM.>> I was told by Scubapro that there 95.5's (the same tank as Dolphin 97's and OMS 98's) are one and the same as the European 15l tanks. Since there is more than one thread standard and "Europe" may not include all contries over there, can you comment on whether these tanks have different ratings in different countries? Also verify that the Eurpean 15l tanks are one and the same as the US 2640 tanks. Lastly, the HP 300 Bar tanks. I presume a new tank run and not a re-certified tank already on the market? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sorry for the delay - e-mail overload! I don't know whether the Faber tanks are exported to the US and down rated for US Standards. The best way to find out would be to see what the empty weight of the respective tanks are. Certainly the Scubapro 95.5cuft @ 2640psi = 15l WC. And Faber is an Italian company. It is my experience that of the different makes of steel tank around the UK, Faber make the lightest for the same WP. The new 300bar tanks are not re-rated, they weigh significantly more than their 232bar counterparts. From what I can remember, a 7litre 232 bar Faber has a TARE of 8.2kg " 300 " " 11ish kg IF IT WOULD BE USEFUL, I WOULD BE HAPPY TO COMPILE A DATABASE OF CYLINDERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, AND KEEP IT UPDATED ON TECHDIVER. ALL I WOULD NEED IS FOR PEOPLE TO SEND ME THE FOLLOWING DETAILS OF THEIR CYLINDERS: MAKE MODEL (eg "104", "15L" etc) MATERIAL WATER CAPACITY* WORKING PRESSURE TEST PRESSURE TARE WEIGHT (ie Wt stamped on the neck, the empty weight without valve) * OR FREE AIR CAPACITY AT CERTAIN PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE eg 104 cuft NECK THREAD CURRENTLY ON SALE OR NOT Bill.Dyer@mi*.co*.uk*
