I dive with a partner who can't see very well at all . . .not only did I signal him that I was out of air but I turned his head so I could make eye contact with him and be sure he SAW my next signal . . .out of air! Then after considering which reg to grab I got the octo on his chest . . .Of course, he is my boyfriend so . . . maybe this is also an example of the calm and wordless communication shared by folks deeply in love. Anyway, it DOES happen that an out of air diver will take the octo - even the newbie cave diver at nearly 100 feet with less than 3 hours of sleep. Heh, but I don't think I want to dive with no sleep anymore - makes me a klutz, a bad one, and so I did the roll off of the valve . . .
