Gary you asked "Is it safer to pass off the regulator your breathing", or something to that effect. The point is there may be times when you have no choice when someone will just come and grab it from your mouth without giving you warning. And, it may happen and the guy doing it may not even be your buddy. Under those circumstances, what is better? And please don't tell me that's never ever happened. To all you of people who insist that the short hose is the only true safe way. I was looking at the back cover of "Caverns Measureless to Man", you know, Shecks autobiography. A lot of people consider him one of the greatest pioneers in technical diving. If breathing the short hose is such a superior way of doing things then why does the picture of him on the back cover clearly show him in proper hogarthian attire? (The long hose is crossedover his body, then around the neck. It's not in his mouth because he's grinning for the picture). Do you know something about diving that Sheck didn't? Ken
