That's like asking...

Keeping all things equal.  Is it safer to scuba dive or NOT to scuba
dive.  NO what if's, just plain fact.

As Phil put so well, you as a diver ARE NOT ALONE when you are under
the water.  Tim found this out the hard way, and others have explained
the issues as well.  Your arguing of this indefensible point is
putting you closer and closer to rule #1.
