It depends on what you consider Solo Diving, it means different thinks to 
different people.

Personally, if I'm in the water, and my (buddy) shall we say, is on 
shore, or in a boat overhead, is a diver, knows my dive plan, therefore 
knows when and where I expect to surface.  I don't consider that Solo 
diving, and do it all the time.

However, to me solo diving is when no one knows where I am, or the 
(buddy) on the surface is a non-diver.  Then to me that is solo diving and I
never do it nor would I ever consider doing it.

When in the water without a buddy in the same body of water I tend to be 
more cautious, stay shallower and less likely to push the limits.
