Pressed Steel is the manufacturer. They haven't been made in about 8 years. You have to buy them used and they're worth their weight in gold. Rumour has it someone's trying to get pressed steel to manufacture a limited run of new 104's. They hold 104ft3 at 2640, and there has never been one that failed hydro that was taken care of. I own two sets (4 tanks), and am happy. Some guys I know pump them regularly to 5000psi, I've taken them to 4000psi before, but prefer not to run them higher then 3300 (it's hell on the seats in your first stages). Genesis tanks are not negative when empty. They are neutral. 104's are 4.5lbs negative each. Faber 95's (scubapro 95's) are neutral empty. 104's are really awesome tanks. > The reason I aske is that I have a couple of sets of Genesis 100s that are > getting pretty beat and am thinking of purcahsing new tanks. What have I missed??? > Pat, as I said, they don't make the 104's anymore. You have to buy them used. My first set I found a guy who was willing to trade me my 95's for his 104's because he was tired of lugging around the extra weight (these tanks ARE heavy). My second set cost me $550 including manifold/bands. Remember, these are used since you can't buy them new. You may want to call Ginnie Springs however I hear that someone is trying to make a new run on 104's. (904) 454-2202, I heard they knew something about the new run on 104's. Also these tanks have a lot of steel in them. I mean a lot of steel. I remember hearing somewhere that someone tried to cause a set to blow out in Nevada and he wound up getting them to something ridiculous like 15,000psi before the valve wound up blowing out (the tank didn't blow, the valve blew out).
