There are guys on here who really knw this stuff, let them tell us.<<

Actually, that was my attempt when I offered the subject for discussion. I'm
looking for more feedback.

>> I do my deep stops on helium - no choice to deliver the oxygen any other way

up on that. <<

I HAVE been picking up that you emphasize the oxygen window. We got into this
discussion because of the alternate gear setups that are being used by some. I
proposed that they have some merit, as I considered the ability to switch to an
alternate inert gas to be of great importance. Now that I learned your
viewpoint, I am trying to solicitate comments from a broader base. So it's not
that I don't UNDERSTAND what you're saying, I'm just trying to QUALIFY it. (As
you said - neither of us is the expert, so allow me to take what you're saying
with a grain of salt).

>> You are clearly afraid that these deep stops are really bottom time, so you
don't believe me.<<

Let me make this clear: I have no business to criticize anyone for doing deep
stops. Actually, I am very open to the concept as I truely believe that we ALL
don't know enough about decompression and that one cannot limit himself to the
Haldanean model. And yes, I personally WOULD calculate the additional helium
ongassing for any deep stops.

So, for me this was NOT about deep stops - it is about QUANTIFYING the benefit
of switching inert gases during ascent and decompression. I was rating the
benefit rather HIGH and from this discussion I'm learning that others consider
it beneficial to a lesser degree. Based on how beneficial or necessary one
considers the inert gas switching, one would probably use a different gear
configuration.

Thanks
Andy
