Rich, think it through. There is no reason you can not carry adequate deco gas . To be forced to switch to deco gas in the silted out companionway of a ship at 250 feet becasue something jsut went wrong is silly. If you have a PFO or some other predisposiiotn to DCS, but like to roll the dice anyway, take the deco gas, but don't get killed doing it, and don't use the smae kind of one dimensional, myopic logic that was the genesis of this concept in the first place. People that want to play deco weenie need to bring a full face mask and make arrangements to be watched while they burn their lungs up with oxygen. Again and again, convoluted solutions to problems casued by other convolutions and circumstances that ahould not be bought into the dive are no excuse to put everyone at risk and inconvenience. I hate to even respond to this, but you present yourself as knowing what you are talking about , and you do in your area, but to recommend diving deco gas on your back could cause someone to do it cause Rich says its ok and get killed. I see the results of this'kind of emulation down here in the paper every week, and in some cases, when I am out diving on the commercial boats. Ask Tom Mount about this.
