I agree in principle with what you say but, 104's give you a lot of volume
if you give them a 'good' fill.  At the beginning I did not like doing that,
but after a week of cave diving, I got used to it and I like to be able to
do so.  This is probably why I like 104's soo much.

I agree with this at a 100%.  This is why I almost never have the same gear
configuration on my dives (depending on risk, water condition (temp.), goal,
importance of acheiving results, etc).  I always bring whatever I feel is
required for the planned dive... nothing more, nothing less.

Some guys say that they always dive with the same gear, but it is not true.
Are these guys bringing emergency uplines in caves?
