Pete, As we were taught in the cave course there are 5 main reasons scuba divers (all divers) Training - improper or inadequate training Guidelines - failure to maintain a continuous line to the outside Air - insufficient air or breaking of appropriate air guidelines (e.g. rule of thirds) Depth - and all the associated problems that goes along with that Limits - personal limits like cold, etc... This was presented as an acronym, and a damn good one IMO "Training Gives All Divers Life" And, for certified cave divers it boils down to THREE main reasons which present themselves in a different order than the above 5... Depth Guidelines Air Which translates in the acronym world to "Do Good Always"... -Carl-
