forgive my slightly off topic digression (i.e. rant) but:
the biggest 'strokery' going on on Compuserve is being perpetrated by the
service itself

their decision to censor access to "sex related" internet Usenet groups
because of pressure from a German lawsuit is simply indefensible

what next?
Iranian users object to anti-Muslim comments so religious Usenets are censored?

China objects to discussion of political activism?

it is incredible to me that Germany can dictate policy as to what those of
us in other countriues may or may not have access to

Compuserve's "defense" was that they had no way to close off access to the
"offensive" groups for German users only...so they censored the entire
system

this is simply ridiculous..one option they CLEARLY had was to just cancel
all of their German subscribers...but of course THAT would cost them
revenue

one would hope that enough people in other countries cancel their accounts
in response to this to convince them of the error of their ways

it is just not acceptable for one country to impose its standards of
acceptablility in free speech on the REST of the world
new world order indeed

some of us might still prefer freedom
