According to guy who wrote the book on diving medicine in Sweden, Hans 
Ornhagen, a female buddy pair is less likely to get themselves in an 
unresolvable situation, the mechanism beeing that they are able to see 
the impending problem earlier than a male-male buddy pair. Sadly a 
female-male buddy pair run the same risks as a m-m pair.
