Vulcanized rubber suits are best for efficient repairs. There are two
possible methods to seal a vucanized rubber suit under water. The
easiest is to use duct tape to seal a tear, however, the adhesive does
not always work underwater. For dry material, it is a quick and durable
patch (I know some commercial divers that don't bother to replace duct
tape patches). The other underwater option is to use a swimming pool
liner repair kit, the adhesive is designed to work when wet. This
method of repair is not easy and may not be viable in most situations.

Your best choice is to: 1) buy a non-sport grade suit (the pro grade or
intermediate thickness vulcanized suits are better suit to tech diving),
and 2) replace the wrist seal with heavy duty seals (these are about four
times the thickness of sport grade wrist seals.

I have been diving a "pro" grade viking (500+ dives). I personally think
it is more durable than 1/4" neoprene suits I have used.
