With a membrane drysuit (no insulation capabilities) there is the problem of flooding the suit and a resulting catastrophic heat loss. Depending on the material of the suit and the diving environment this is not an extremly unprobable situation. Two month ago I ripped my suit during a dive and it took two minutes till I could 'enjoy' water only few grades above the freezing point up to my hips. Diving well in the no-decompression limits during that dive and being not far away from the shore it was just an 'unpleasant experience', but on a dive with 1 or more hours decotime this might be lifethreatening. What are you doing in such a situation or what are you doing to prevent it? One possible underwater dry-suit repair could eventually be done by applying tape (something like insulating tape used in electrical applications) on the damaged area of the suit. Do you know if there is tape which can be used in an underwater environment?
