L.J.,
I have an interesting article on safety divers. It's pretty close to what I have
developed for use by NOAA's Underwater Investigative Unit. Give me a call, and
I'll fax it or mail it to you. I'm right over at Sand Point.

Subject: Safety divers
Do you have a specific written protocol for your safety divers?
If so would you be willing to send me a copy?
We are very interested in it (my dive team and I) as we are preparing for
dives on new shipwrecks in which we will use more support than we have
needed in the past, the dives are still quite a ways in the future, but we
are pulling together our support staff, and are writing up a standardization
of procedures in the case of "**** happening", and more importantly, how
to prevent it from happening by being aware in the first place. I
realize that your diving environment is relatively different from ours, but
many of the basic concepts are the same, and can be adapted from
cave exploration to wreck exploration, in cold water, low vis, and
high current, with a large decompression obligation, etc... (hey, wait, so
far I could be describing a cave dive...)
