Apparently, they are very similar, both being 14 threads per inch. (npsm = American National Standard Straight Pipe Thread for free fitting Mechanical joints. BSP = British Standard Pipe thread) This tank had passed at least 6 previous inspections. There was also no clear Working Pressure stamped on it, except for the code DOT 3AA2250, which (I found out later) meant a WP of 2250 psi or 155 bar and a test pressure of 3750 psi (259 bar).
