But were it to be moderated, I'd be afraid that it would degenerate just as pointed out by George. Hmmm...let me put forth a different proposition. The moderator should not even be a diver, so that they can't be confused by facts. Messages should be evaluated on tone, not on content. They should be looked at based on a number of ideas, such as: Is the attack on the person, or on the content? Is the message mostly heat, or mostly light? Is it the threehundreth mee-to on the same apparrent subject? (The Dive Rite light comes to mind)... Has the discussion degenerated to a repetition of the same points over and over again by the same people, as if repeating a point will make it more true? Does the message contain the word, 'stroke'? Or, for that matter, a number of other highly inflammatory words? If so, the message should be returned to the sender with a short explanation, or, perhaps, not returned at all, as is done with most moderated forums. The point is that this is a forum. People should be able to put forth ideas here, even if they are bad ideas. Others should be able to note that those ideas are likely to get people killed, that they are bad ideas, and why. We should all learn from the exchange. It is silly to slam strokes. It is not silly to slam strokish ideas. And, with that, I'll point out that the best form of moderation is self moderation. And the shortest return-to-sender path is when you don't send the message at all.
