Since our name was invoked int his discussion, let me just say that we put our names on our tanks, and we mark them in three inch high numbers, longintudinaly in the orientation of the tank on both sides as to the maximum depth at whcih the tank can be used according to 1.4 PPO2 and 130 AED. This avoids the "nitrox" nonsense, and the dive shops are used to seeing "numbered" tanks, as in their rental gear. They are too dumb to know what it means. This oxygen cleaning nonsense is just that. Obviously, no tanks should have oil or water in in no matter what you are going to fill it with. The operating depth will keep you out of trouble. I have mine painted on, and if I decide to use the tank for anything else, I empty it , restencil it, ans then fill it. With your life at stake, doing it right is paramount. I am closing in on 1000 dives with other than air, and have never had an accident. Nobody doing it my way has had an accident, and that covers another several thousand man hours. The best cave divers agree with me, and so do the best wreck divers. I am diving with Bill Deans all weekend - he does it exactly like I do. Ask him . - G
