I can answer the reason against steel in the ocean. In case of emergency you need to be non negatively buoyant - Steel is not the best choice. With AL you can drop your weights and be okay - you can't drop your steel tanks... -----Original Message----- From: Samy Elashmawy [mailto:samelash@ix*.ne*.co*] Sent: Friday, July 23, 1999 10:06 AM To: kirvine@sa*.ne*; Caruso, Christina R (Christina) Cc: 'Kevin Connell'; cavers@cavers.com Subject: Re: Scubapro Super Tek dual bladder wings for sale >- proper gear balance is the correct Agreed >answer, not more gear to offset doing something stupid. Gearge , Why are you so agenst steel tanks on ocean with a dry suit. Small Steel ,ie genisis 100s for example. (I know they rust) They are well balanced , You do not need to add a ton of lead to your wight belt.and you have 200 CFT of dive gas. Much more stream lined with an alluminum $0 of o2 for deco. Much more than twin 80s, a 80 stage and an aditional 40 cunbe deco bottle. Why drag the additional tanks along when you can do with this setup ? >Trying to manage a mess like double wings or inflators is patently >ridiculous, and extremely dangerous in my well informed and seasoned >opinion.
