Michael, I find it hard to believe that you have read all of the posts since '95 and come up with comments like these. When I first found this list in late '96, I must admit that it took a bit of reading of both the current ongoing posts as well as the previous posts to decipher who the players were, who was faking who and so on. I may have had an advantage in that I was a very active diver for 20 years (including 8 years teaching the sport) had a break of 15 years and returned to find a whole new sport! I didn't latch onto the first suggestion with regard to gear configuration and technique, just because some "stud-muffin instructor with 83 specialties" said this was the way to do it! I read what was posted, compared it to my data base of knowledge from 20 years of diving and came to some conclusions. The primary one was the WKPP crowd had their "stuff together in one bag with no leaks". True enough they might benefit from a session or two with Emily Post or Miss Manners, and they might be a bit on the touchy side at times, but when it comes to diving they know of what they speak! When I taught diving (73-80) I breathed a long hose which was donated to the OOA diver because the OOA diver knew that the long hose worked because he could see you breathing it and YOU weren't stressed and could better handle any problems with the secondary regulator which I kept (surprise!) right under my neck on a rubber strap! Granted the long hose wasn't 6-7 feet it was only 4' (the longest I could find) but it gave some space between myself and my buddy in an OOA situation. I also agreed with them on wings vs BC since I was diving wings (ScubaPro and At-Pac) from '75 on. Agreed with them on the deep air issue, only been narced once (1977, Texas Tower, 145 (fsw), 70 miles east of NJ) didn't like it, don't want to do it again! Well, I'll be, after thinking it over I decided the score was WKPP 10, opponents -5. Got DIR I and DIR II when it was released (do you have either?). I had some questions about WKPP deep stops & deco procedures so instead of "whining and crying and calling the other children names" I did something really unique, I sent George a PRIVATE e-mail and asked my question. Guess what. He responded, answered my questions and suggested that I call him to discuss it further!!!!!!!!!!!! I did, he spent 20 + minutes on the phone with me and (sorry George but I am sworn to tell the truth) didn't use one 4 letter word. I have seen too many people do too many stupid things diving to dive with anyone who doesn't think and dive the way I do! Just because you have a c-card does not entitle you to dive with me or obligate me to dive with you (worrying the whole time what you are going to do next). If you want to dive with anybody you are paired up with that's your choice, but you shouldn't criticize those who show much better judgement than you do!!! Actually, since the only point you made that could have any merit at all (which it does not) pertains to the sharing of information (deco) I would guess that you are just trying to pick a fight.
