We have a diving physiology >workgroup consisting of myself, Joe, John Earle, Dave Pence (U.H. Diving >Safety Officer), and Dr. Bob Overlock (Chamber guru for the state of >Hawaii). We meet about once a month to have serious discussions about >particular aspects of diving physiology. One of our first meetings >discussed cutis marmorata. We have it on videotape, if you'd like to see a >copy. Richie, You say here you have a diving safety officer for UH and a chamber guru of the state. In all honesty, these guys have no idea what they are talking about. The University Diving Safety Officers are consistently the worst in the business. It's a network of good old boys, who consistently back each other up with some of the most ridiculous claim out there. The AAUS standards are worse than IANTD as far as diver training, and to make matters worse these guys consistently believe that they know what they are talking about. The simple fact is that most of them have convinced the Universities and State's that due to liability of teaching that their positions are necessary to head off any potential accidents. The funny thing is that they consistently are some of the worst instructors with very limited experience and skill. My bet is that most of them join the AAUS, so that together they have a network to fall on and each of them back each other up. Its a very sad story. Go to any of the annual meeting and see for yourself. Claiming that you consult with these guys actually shows us how little you know about what you are doing. Chris
