In the latest WARSHIP INTERNATIONAL, #4 1997 (the well-regarded publication of the International Naval Research Organisation, http://www.primenet.com/~inro) is a fine article on some dives done on the wreck of the Austro-Hungarian battleship SZENT ISTVAN, sunk in October 1918 by the Italian Navy. You've probably all seen film footage of her loss: big ship, odd-looking covers on the funnels, triple turrets pointing over to port, slowly rolls over to starboard. Well, her wreck has been located and dove by a series of expeditions, and Erwin Sieche has documented a few of them. She's lying in about 65 metres of water, upside down, and there is evidence that the ship's bow was split off from the rest of the hull. Very interesting article, with a bunch of underwater shots- some in colour. Bill Schleihauf Pierrefonds, Quebec CANADA william@ca*.ca*
