I think so. Mike, I believe the diving community should take THAT as Rule #1: Keep learning! Keep your eyes and ears open, the other diver might show you a better way ... or a NEED for a better way! This demotes "Never dive with strokes" to Rule #2, I know. But "strokes" are in the eye of the beholder, or beholders ... I'm sure I am one, but I'd prefer to brand myself "one who has more to learn AND KNOWS IT." Cavers know that Bill Hogarth(ian) Main keeps trying new things, despite having created a gear-configuration so efficient and sensible that it's just about the caver's standard ... and so well-regarded that it bears his name. (In fact I'll bet that someone who showed up with the original Hogarthian rig would be branded a "stroke" by some, maybe even some in the WKPP.) I sincerely hope that continuing to learn will keep me from being a REAL stroke .... it's the only way I can see to avoid it: learn, practice, always improve. And I KNOW that I have lots more to learn!!! Just my plugged nickel's worth, from a stroke who doesn't really know squat....
