Subject: Re: Solo Rebreathers Diving
I am by no means an expert on rebreathers. In fact my total dive time
is about 20 minutes in a 5m tank. But even with this limited experience
and knowledge I realise this is complete crap.Have you tried out a
rebreather? If you had I think you would not post such complete nonsense.
What is the first rule of rescue/first aid....do not put yourself at risk.
Swapping a mouthpiece back and forth is bad enough when buddy breathing
from an open circuit reg. Now you want people to do it with a closed
circuit one. Lets look at the problems
1. Flooding the loop, this is either going to give you a nice caustic soda
mouthwash or severaly reduce the effectiveness of the scrubber
2. Using up your limited supply of diluent. You have to breath out on the
ascent so as not to burst a lung and since you would be doing this with the
reg out of your mouth you become an open circuit diver
3. losing all buoyancy control as the breathing bag is your buoyancy
compensator and since you are breathing most of the air from it you will be
dumping most of the air
4. Having the other person screw up because they do not know what the hell
is going on because they do not use a CCR, so unless you expect all the
training agencies to start teaching people loop managment for rebreathers I
do not think it will be a sucess. Hell PADI only teaches buddy breathing as
an option these days.

I could go on and on about just how stupid this train of thought is but it
is ruining my breakfast. This is DUMB!!!! stop giving people more stupid
ideas, there is more than enough bull shit flying around out there as is
with out people adding to it. If you really want to know about these things
ask Rich P or Rod Farb I'm sure they will give you a more complete answer
as to why it is wrong.
