Some benefits may include:
1) The additional length may make sharing air a little easier while 
towing a broken scooter. A little more room.
2) Passing through restrictions where may be a little easier with a 
little more room.
3) In open ocean in rough seas, it would be easier to rig jon lines for 
both divers rather than have the out-of-air diver hanging all over you.

In reality there would not be a heck of a lot of difference; however 
since my gear is stowed properly the extra 2 ft of hose is of no 
consequence. It doesn't add breathing resistance (fraction of a psi of 
the intermediate air pressure) as one may suggest. I did not know Yogi 
was a tech-diver. Who was his instructor?
