A BAR is a metric unit of pressure equal to one million dynes. A dynes is defined as the force that imparts to a mass of one gram an acceleration of one centimeter per second per second. For comparision to units of measure you probably better understand: A Bar is equal to 0.9869 Atmospheres or ~14.51 PSI.
