If it's not Cavers vs. Tekkie's, it's Cavers Vs. Wreck Divers or Cavers vs. The World. It doesn't matter, it appears from all the noise that cave divers (the vocal ones) want to be noticed and have people approve of them and think everything they do is perfect, there aren't _that_ many ego maniacs among the other classifications of divers, there are some, just not as many big mouths as there are that claim to be cave divers. Maybe that's because there are more cave divers than any other, maybe there's other reasons. That's why I think the discussion on air diving gets so blown out of proportion. There are people who have spent thousands of dollars training and equiping themselves to dive in 180' of water - wouldn't they be pissed if some schmuck like me came zipping by with just my double steels and an AOW card! Of course I've been doing this (successfully) for 15 years. On the term Techdiver, cave diving is technical, I feel any deco diving is technical, wreck penetrations are tecnical. I'm not a techdiver, I am a wreck diver, others are reef divers, cave divers, mix divers & fish divers (had to plug Rich). Our skills and equipment may be technical, but who is a Techdiver? Are there persons out there who put on lots of gear just to get it wet? Techdiver is a mailling list and a marketing term. Mark JS>I think I've pinned down the difference between cavers and JS>techdiver. Everybody that complains about it, read on: JS>it takes a lot of training and some serious skill to be a cave JS>diver. alas cavers... JS>everybody that wants to be thinks they're a technical diver. JS>there are no prerequisites. alas techdiver... JS>ShallowScott Let me guess, Shallow Scott is a cave diver? or a wannabe? Mark Welzel /\/\/ --- DeLuxe 1.25 #11829 . . . Silly Humans . . .
