Below is a message posted this morning which has been edited for brevity, regarding Scuba Schools International and Nitrox Courses. I forwarded the message to SSI without names or e-mail addresses. Below this message is a reply which I am posting for Ed Christini, President of SSI on the matter. Box 397 Newburgh, IN 47629-0397 Dear Rick, Thank you for your fax of April 11. I appreciate you forwarding a copy of your e-mail. First, I would like to state that Ed Betts has not been, nor is he currently an SSI Dealer. Second, as a point of clarification, SSI is, as always does, trying to keep an open mind with the issue of Nitrox. At DEMA 1994, I was approached by a few SSI Dealers who would like SSI to sanction a Nitrox Course. In response we are conducting a survey of our dealers to find out how Nitrox impacts them and to what extent SSI should be involved. At this time we are simply gathering data from SSI dealers on the issue of Nitrox Diving. There will be an article in the upcoming Dive Business Intl. (the SSI News Magazine rw.), regarding the comments we have received so far. I must admit to this point we have had a very small number of responses to our Nitrox survey.
