Pony Hi Carl, I don't know whether you were joking or not but I think SPARE AIR has it's place certainly in recreational diving if not in deeper more equipment orientated diving. I bought a SPARE AIR a few years ago. I decided against a pony setup at the time because the SPARE AIR was a lot less bulky and convenitent. Most dive charter boats have tank racks and I decided that a tank mounted pony bottle would make my setup difficult to stow. The pony could by slung on the front of my BC but would, IMO, get in the way a lot not to mention be yet another thing to get tangled up in lines, kelp etc. The upshot of which would be that I'd probably leave it behind when I most needed it. I have breathed of the SPARE AIR for over 6 minutes at 5-6 metres (not because I was out of air just to test it) so I'm sure there is adequate air to at the very least make a reasonably controled ascent from 18 or so metres or better still get to a buddy (if you have one). Obviously I am speaking from the point of view of recreational diving within normal openwater limits (I'm assuming people on this list don't just make deep "tech" level dives).
