This is an interesting analogy. As a diver I've long drawn a mental
parallel between the dangers involved in diving depth and the dangers
involved in driving speed. Interestingly enough the parallel is about
1 fsw == 1 mph. I view the risk of diving to 15 feet to be similar to
the risk of driving 15 mph (minimal). 60 fws/mph is comfortable and
safe. 100 fsw/mph is approaching the high side of comfortable cruising.
140 fsw/mph is moving into the danger zone. 180 fsw/mph is the upper
limit without specialized equipment/machinery. 200 fsw/mph is running
on or beyond the ragged edge.

Of course with the right equipment/machinery those numbers can be
exceeded with reasonable safety but this moves beyond the realm of
air/street machinery. And of course in either domain there are those
who are so good at things that they can readily exceed what the rest
of us mere mortals can do.

Just an observation.
