Rod, My dad and I built a new rig for the deep dive I'm going to do with you next month in those Florida caves you've told me so much about. We took a full sized oxygen tank from his old welding set, and drained off some of the O2 - we then pumped it up to about 6000 psi with some air from his auto repair shop garage. We kinda guessed that the PPO2 was about 1.2 or so, since it took us both about 4-5 cigarette breaks to completely fill the tank. We had my mom test it out (since Dad and I were watching the game and drinking beer), and it took her a while to pass out (she's pretty weak), so I figured the mix was about right. We then built a harness for it with some old handcuffs that he had lying around - they'll lock over my forearms to hold the tank steady (yeah, it'll restrict my mobility a bit, but it's worth it to go deep...). For deco, we came up with a pretty interesting rig too, we bought 300 ft. of garden hose from Home Depot, and superglued a Micra 2d stage to the end of it. The boat tenders (John's mom has volunteered for that job) will just have to blow real hard into the other end of the hose, thereby giving us all the air we need... I'm still working on the depleted uranium weights, which I figured we could just zip-tie to our ankles (to keep them as far away from our 'nads as possible). And for getting in/out quickly, my dad rigged up one of the old jets from his jacuzzi that mounts on the bottom of the O2 tank. I'll have to carry 4 Die Hard batteries, with a 12v/120v converter to power it, but that just means I can lose one of the uranium weights. I figured I should get about 20-30 knots out of that baby, which will make getting back into the cave quickly a breeze... If you have a spare $29.95 I can have him build you a similar rig (we still have the acetylene tank left over) - or you can just use that old CCR-155 of yours and watch me with envy... See ya, deep brother... Kevin ("If Alvyn can go there, so can I...") aka HeyyDude@ao*.co*
