On the pony bracket thread...

I'd have to check back with the shop to see who the manufacturer is (if
you can't homebrew your own equivalent), but I have a pretty versatile
and inexpensive pony bracket (I think DiveRite's low-end one). It has
a skinny horseshoe heavy rigid wire loop that attaches to the pony by
band clamps (inverted-U with the loop at the top). This goes parallel
to the pony, and once attached, you bend the top third about 45-degrees
away from the pony. Between the two band clamps are an elastic loop
with a fitted quick-release clip on one side, and the female end of
the quick-release clip on the other side.

To use it, you slip the elastic loop around the primary tank between
the BCD straps and slip the wire loop over the tank valve. Fasten the
clamp and you're set. The wire loop bears the weight, the elastic
holds the pony against the primary, and once you've mounted the primary
regulator it won't slip off. It's great for "alien" tanks - no need
for mounting hardware on the primary. Only drawback is that the pony
can't be removed in-water (without a LOT of trouble).

The "pony tamers" are great if you always dive your own pre-rigged tanks,
but otherwise, this gizmo beats the heck out of those pony "bags" and
hold things much more securely.
