It's suggest stopping for a minute or two not at 9 m, but about halfway 
between the bottom and your 6m stop.  It's not an issue of incrementally 
deeper stops, it's an issue of breaking up the long direct ascents.  It's 
really just a more practical way to slow down the ascent rate.
