Subject: Re: yoke vs din valves
Ronnie, I've got two of the same tanks, I believe. They are made by
Luxfer and are composite. DOT has given Luxfer an exemption that allows
them to test the bottle in u/w use. I got two and recently had to return
them for hydro. 45 cu ft and 4500 psi eleven pounds with valve. I've seen
them in doubles configuration. I use them for OC bailout on deep dives.
They are light and carry lots of gas. Luxfer has in testing now a carbon
fiber bottle with no metal liner or with a kevlar-like liner, I don't
know which they went with. High psi but large volume. Pony size bottles
won't come for awhile. There are NO composite bottles DOT approved for
U/W apps. (though we know many that are used successfully) except the
conditional Luxfer 45 cubers. Luxfer is 10 minutes away from me. They got
great composites. I plumbed a nice 18 cuber as a third gas bottle on the
155 rebreather for gas switches.xx
