> But the oxygen window is a function of metabolism: conversion of O2 > into CO2, which is more soluble. What am I missing? About a year or so ago I took a Diving Physiology course from the U.H. Med. School (Lin was the instructor; guest lectures by Yount and others). One of the classes covered the oxygen window in excrutiating detail. I want to refer to my notes before I try to answer (my notes are lost in a sea of disorganization, so it may be a while). However, I do remember that the important variable was the ratio of dissolved O2 to O2 bound by hemoglobin. When you follow the sigmoidal curve out beyond normobaric conditions, the "window" opens up farther by shiting this ratio. More later if I can find my notes. John Crea probably knows it off the top of his head. Aloha, Rich
