Regarding the thread on whether or not to eat chunks of steak or chocolate on prolonged hangs....Have tried wine gums, candy bars (snickers), apples, oranges....all take some technique. BUt in cold water for a quick energy rush (sugar buzz with all the dangers of rebound) you just can't beat Kendall Mint Cakes....the rock climbers friend....basically a hunk of sugar with a drop of spearmint taste added. COmes in hard blocks. Also glucose tablets placed under the tongue give some relief......the real problem though is hydration.
