Sorry about that, gang. I was talking to people in my office when I should have been paying more attention to the net, and I never mind a little Warren Zevon. Now I am not just wasting bandwith. I was curious about sudafed (and other drugs) because I have heard and seen a few things, and wanted to see if there was more info here. I have heard that those seasickness patches can cause narcing in as little as 60 feet of water. I have taken dramamine 2 with success. It's non drowsy, last 12 hours, and did not seem to affect me at a depth of 150 on air. At that same site, another diver, who was on a prescription decongestant (I can find out what kind) reached 120 feet and decided to get out of the water. He and his buddy had made the decent at a safe, but quick, pace, so they had not been there long. The diver drove for the surface, and his buddy grabbed him, trying to slow him. They both surfaced ahead of their bubbles and came well out of the water. Among other aerospace people present there was general agreement that the Trident missile would look like that if it worked. The diver said by the time he realized what he was doing, it was basically done. The buddy said he felt they had not been down long enough to build up much N2, and he kept exhaling, so he felt safe. Probably some narcosis in that decision. I'm not sure what I would have done if I had been in his shoes. Anyway, I have since picked up that decongestants are bad at depth, particularly one I had not previously heard of (maybe Seldane? don't know). I try not to dive on anything but maybe aspirin or ibuprophin. Sometimes caffeine.
