Scott, One thing to kep in mind with a joint surgery. Is the probability of inflamation during the dive due to the stress placed on the joint. In considering this scenario the ability of the tissue to off gas can change during the course of the dive. I have several chronic problems of his nature, knee injury, cootes chondrites, and carpal tunnel. The knee is easily controlled by a knee brace so I don't usually worry about that. The others I have had for a long time and after consultation with several dive docs have taken a conservative approach in terms of my decompression. But not necessarily dive profile. I typically add 10% or 2 min ( which every is great to my 30' and 20' stops) and 10% or 5min to 10' stop. 20' & 10' are on O2. Since these conditions have developed I've had 250-300 decompression dives with no problems. I would recommend that you try a conservative approach at the start to see how your body reacts.
