I have a transpac with about 40 dives on it (bought it in March). I like the streamlining, and I like the modularity. I can switch from doubles to a single in 10 minutes. I like the pouch system. I have a second mask stowed just in front of the wing on my right side in one of their 'quick release' pouches. I've practiced with it and can change a mask in less than a minute (in 40 fsw at the monterey breakwater, not a high stress event :). It's very solid with dual 120's if you use the optional stabilizer plate. I can't compare it to the hardpack since I've never worn one. I don't like the shoulder strap tensioners (not sure that's what they're really called). It's very difficult to get enough leverage on them to cinch down the backpack after you've put it on, so I end up tightening everything up before I put it on, then squirming into it. This is a real pain if you're in a drysuit, since the strap always hangs up on your exhaust valve. I'm thinking of adding a couple of 6mm kernmantle extensions to the cinches so I get get more leverage. I don't like the plethora of D rings, but part of this stems from buying the 'tec 40D' version of the DUI weight system, which also has bags of D rings on it. Someday I'll go out and cut the rings off with a bolt cutter, which should solve the problem. Live and learn. I swear they'd put D rings on your fins if they could sell them for twice the price :). Scott.
